Looking for a healthy ice cream alternative? Frozen yogurt is quick to make at home with just a few ingredients and is the perfect way to cool down in the current temperatures.

Another heat wave is approaching in Germany and it is important to stock up on cool food to survive the hot days. Unfortunately, all the foods and drinks that people like to consume during hot weather, such as alcohol or mangoes, are not recommended as they cause dehydration. On the other hand, what works well: frozen yogurt (also: frozen yogurt). You don’t even have to go to town to get it. You can also make cool treats at home without an ice cream maker. Frozen yogurt is not different from ice cream, but healthier. As the name suggests, yogurt is used instead of cream, so you also save on fat and calories. You can adapt the recipe however you like, for example by mixing different types of fruit. You only need three ingredients for the basic recipe.

Heatwave Germany: Chilled with three-ingredient frozen yogurt

For one part:

  • 150 g of Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons of honey

Make your own frozen yogurt: a recipe with only three ingredients

  1. You will need a blender for the recipe. So either put the three ingredients in a blender or mix everything in a bowl with a hand blender. At the end of the mass, it should be homogeneous and fluffy.
  2. Place the yogurt mixture in a freezer-safe container and place in the freezer.
  3. After 45 minutes, stir the mixture with a spatula and refrigerate for at least two hours.
  4. Meanwhile, remove the frozen yogurt every 30 minutes and continue to mix with a spatula.
  5. Before serving, take the frozen yogurt out of the freezer and let it thaw a bit so it’s firm but nice and creamy.

Almost all kinds of fruits are suitable as an addition, for example, strawberries, raspberries or mangoes. You can add frozen fruit directly to the blender to flavor the basic recipe. Alternatively, you can top the ready-made frozen yogurt with the fruit of your choice. If you don’t need it to be so healthy, you can also use chocolates and biscuits as well. Bon Appetit!
