Round of 16: Germany – England, June 29, 2021
Behind the German national team is a 90-minute nervous thriller: advancing to the 1/8 finals in the last game against Hungary was not a natural matter. As soon as Germany scored, Hungary leveled the situation just 15 seconds later. Casual group games look different! Despite the nail-biter, Germany manage to draw just before the end and thus qualify for the round of 16; and there is no stranger waiting: an old rival England.
Of course, there should be enough food for your nerves on the living room table during the first game in the knockout stages. That’s why star chef Johann Lafer created Sarah’s EM appetizer from Laufenburg’s favorite ingredients: shrimp, watermelon and mint. the grilled watermelon shrimp skewers with mint pesto a fresh, light alternative to the usual greasy chips on the couch. Sarah has another advantage: she finally has a reason to process all the mints in her garden.
Celina from Neustadt an der Weinstraße told us her favorite ingredients she always has at home: Carrot, apple and soy yogurt. Fresh ingredients that are well tolerated in any weather. Whether as a snack between meals, as part of a main course or as a dessert: they are definitely versatile.
Johann Lafer shows how all three ingredients can be combined in a snack and uses it to create delicious, vegan ones. Pita bread with a carrot and apple tartare. Yes, you read that right: vegan. Test at home and taste blind. A great example of how vegan snacks can be super tasty too!
potato. For many people, they are a staple food after pasta. And rightly so: hardly any other vegetable finds its way onto the plate in such a variety of ways. From the classic boiled potato to the much-sought after outdoor pool fries, gratin and as an accompaniment to a Sunday roast, there’s practically no limit.
That’s why Petra from Buttenwiesen always has enough potatoes in her pantry. Other ingredients she doesn’t want to do without: pine nuts and chili. Johann Lafer is happy to accept the ingredients and shows another way to prepare them: Baked potatoes with pine nuts and chili straight from the oven.

Germany vs Hungary 23.06.2021
After a 4:2 win against Portugal on 19.06. The German team can go to the last group game highly motivated. And of course, star chef Johann Lafer will once again provide the right culinary accompaniment.
Rolf from Müllheim counts lemongrass, curry paste and soy sauce among his absolute favorite ingredients. For this reason, the first EM snack a A refreshing vegetable curry. A simple, vegetarian, very tasty and healthy change from the usual dishes!

It combines the ingredients for a second EM appetizer against Hungary: Chicken breast fillet stuffed in rocket salad. The snack is our recommendation for everyone who likes light food and wants to try a new combination!
Potatoes: any form is good! Spaetzle: A staple in large parts of SWR3Land! Hungarian greeting: party! Ana from Lorch im Remstal sees it that way. Potatoes remind him of his grandmother’s potato dumplings, and soup is certainly one of his staples as a Swabian. But it also applies as a half-Hungarian Sausagea favorite Hungarian salami.

Star chef Johann Laffer has prepared three different snacks for Germany’s first group game against current world champions France.

And peas are a perennial favorite for them anyway. Hummus and mango sandwiches are the perfect combination – they’re also vegetarian and healthy!
Let `s continue Carrot strips with artisanal cheese and warm walnut vinaigrette. The longer the name of the dish, the more expensive the restaurant. But you can easily make this snack yourself!
It was based on Birgit’s favorite ingredients from Lampertheim. Carrots, cottage cheese, and nuts are absolute favorites in her family because they’re not only delicious, they’re healthy, and can help with a love handle or two that might pop up during a pandemic.
It’s the third EM appetizer from star chef Johann Lafer Goat cheese wrapped in bacon with apple and beet salad. It combines Yvonne’s favorite ingredients from Bad Krozingen and shows that crispy baguette, cream cheese and fresh cucumber can become more than just a classic, well-known snack. Topped with the right salad and some bacon, it makes for a delicious addition to watching football.
