Crispy chocolate glaze, creamy pudding filling on top of a heavenly moist pastry. Well, does it sound too good to be true? Yes, it really exists and it’s called Boston Cream Pie. Fortunately, today you will learn how to bake this dreamy pastry yourself.
By the way, Boston cream pie is a classic originally from Massachusetts, USA. According to legend, there was a French chef who invented this incredibly good creation in the mid-19th century.
Currently, the cake is also available in a mini version: the product called “Boston Cream” is also a very popular donut chain – and not just a fairly well-known franchise.

For the dough:
In the first step, beat the eggs with the sugar until very creamy. Now add salt and flour and mix until a smooth dough is obtained.
Grease a spring form (diameter 26 cm) and pour the dough, then smooth it. Place the cake in the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until the pastry is a nice light brown. Then remove the cake from the mold, cut it in half crosswise and leave it to cool.
Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Put the cold milk in a saucepan and whisk it with the other ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens. Remove from heat, cover with foil and refrigerate for two hours.
20 minutes before the end of the cooling time, preheat the oven to 180 degrees. For the glaze, chop the chocolate and melt it in a water bath. Mix the cream and butter until you get a smooth glaze.
Now take two layers of dough and spread the bottom layer generously with pudding. Place the second sheet of pastry on top and pour the glaze over the cake. The chocolate is ideal if it runs down the sides a little. Cool the Boston Cream Pie and then serve. Good!
